Is this causing damage to clothing, skin or other objects, soaking clothing and perhaps causing sore skin and, in turn, greater sensory discomfort?
Chew Choobz are a practical and hygienic alternative. Simply stretch over the head like putting on a t-shirt. The Chew Choob sits comfortably around the neck - not tight, but not hanging loose (unless preferred loose - see sizing information).

- Secured with hook and loop fastening, providing reassurance for use in educational settings or by particularly vulnerable individuals. If pulled or caught, the hook and loop fastening will release.
- Easy for caregivers to fasten quickly and without fuss, and ideal for those who dislike pulling any item over their head. Simply wrap around the neck and touch the two ends to one another to fasten.
- Top Tip: always stick the ends together and place in a delicates bag to launder. This will protect the Chew Choob itself, and protect any other items in the wash from being damaged by the fastening.

Made with soft, but strong, cotton jersey fabrics that feel just like those favourite, comforting t-shirts that tend to get chewed! All fabrics are pre-washed before making, so they are ready to use immediately.

As of November 2025, I have been gradually moving to Organic Cotton Jersey fabric, which is an excellent quality fabric. There are no chemicals or pesticides used in the production of the organic cotton contained in this fabric, which is wonderfully soft, and there also many environmental benefits to Organic Cotton production.

Size 0, 1 & 2: Stretchy Cotton Jersey T-Shirt style fabric Snood/Gaiter Chew Choob Sensory Support Tool for people with sensory needs - see below for measurements and more details.
Size 3-5: Neck Warmer/Snood/Gaiter - for keeping warm, but not too warm! Useful to protect against wind and cold weather during various outdoor activities, including walks on the beach, hiking, fishing, cycling, running, outdoor work and many more. Folds up very small, easy to pop in a pocket or bag, just in case!
Can be used as a Sensory Support Tool for sucking/chewing, or maybe just to help you or your young person to hide away from the world for a bit, blocking out some of the many sensory inputs that can contribute to sensory overload/overwhelm. This is designed to gently stretch over the head, and be worn over the neck and face as desired. Choose size carefully if you would like it to stay up snugly over your nose, and stretch it gently and with care!

Size 0: 22.5cm wide × 6cm high when laid flat. 45cm circumference. Size 0 is only available in detachable form, and is ideal for children under approx. 10 years - see pic for example of the fit on a 9 year old. PLEASE NOTE, NOT RECOMMENDED FOR UNDER 4 YEARS.
Size 1: 22.5cm wide × 12cm high when laid flat. 45cm circumference. Size 1 is ideal for children under approx. 10 years - see pic for example of the fit on a 9 year old. PLEASE NOTE, NOT RECOMMENDED FOR UNDER 4 YEARS.
Size 2: 30cm wide × 12cm high when laid flat. 60cm circumference. Size 2 is ideal for children aged approx. 10 years and above and most teens and adults, although some younger children prefer this size as it is longer, and they prefer it to hang lower.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
When your Chew Choob gets too soggy, place it into a delicates bag, wash it at 30°c on a delicates cycle and pop a fresh one on. To keep it looking great, hang to dry naturally.
CARE & SAFETY NOTES
SEAMS: There is a machine serged seam, and a few cm of concealed hand stitching, which will look neater if placed inside the Chew Choob (as supplied). For longer life, it's best to avoid chewing the seams, although the machine stitching is very strong and secure. The handstitched section will always be vertical when worn, within the seam where the label is placed.

Item arrived as described I would have preferred the material to be a bit tougher considering it’s designed to chew but it looks nice and it’ll save a T-shirt or two
